Amity I haven't had one of these P@H wheels but the design is very similar to the silent spinner & most Russians can run perfectly comfortably in the 6.5" silent spinner so although I would recommend at least 20cm with any other design these just seem to work somehow!

My Russian's are fine with their wheels, their backs aren't curved at all and they have plenty of space, don't worry I'd never use a wheel that's too small for them Though I agree, it does depend on the size of the Russian since some of them can get quite large.

Wheel arrived (junior wodent wheel)
Rosie was a little unsure at first so I had to help her in through one of the holes of the wheel to help show her what it's for lol. She kept sniffing it but wouldn't venture inside which is unusual for her as she is so inquisitive and not at all afraid but after a few goes she's starting to get the hang of it. It's funny to watch her jumping in and out of it!

Tried to post a pic but for some reason not letting me? Says that the file size is too big, I never had any problems before. Anyone any ideas? Also I've never been able to post pics in a post so that you don't have to click a link to see the pic if that makes sense.

Not sure what the issue is with file size, there does seem to have been a few problems with that lately, have you resized your photo?
If you want the photo to appear in the thread instead of a link do the first step, go advanced, manage attachments to upload the photo then click on the little paperclip icon at the top of the reply box & it will add your photo, if that makes sense!

My Russian uses the medium P@H wheel, and it's a perfect size for him. The small one would be too small, but the medium one is perfect.

Thanks cypher, I did try that but the more I resized the more it still wasn't accepting it, kept saying the size was either too big or too small. Oh really cool thanks must try that!

I am not trying to throw a spanner into the works but has anyone taken a picture & used a ruler to see if their hamster backbone is straight on the smaller wheels?

Generally large wheels have a high mass and by extrapolation high potential energy. After seeing my hamster being thrown about on the bigger wheels. I have again treated this big wheel thingy as another hamster fiction.

Also big wheels mean bigger profits

Buy the smallest wheel based on photographic evidence! and your hamster will thank you for it!

Actually the bigger the wheel, the better for your hamster it is! It really isn't a myth that small wheels cause damage. A wheel that's too small can cause damage in joints and ligaments over time and can cause severe pain in your hamster's elderly years (or even earlier depending on each individual). I really always advocate for the biggest wheel you can possibly afford as though you have a point with your hamster being tossed, this can happen in just about any wheel! As for the companies making more profits, this is a good thing given they're making suitable wheels unlike some companies

Then a flying saucer will be better than any wheel coz it will have a more flat running surface?
