Although I haven't used the trixie wheel for a dwarf hamster, I do have a 28cm for my Syrian - mine have been fairly quite but I have seen reviews online where some people say they are noisy. I would say they are a good wheel to try as they are fairly inexpensive (and can also be ordered from Amazon).

There are so many wheels out there to choose from its confusing sometimes lol. The karlie wooden wheels are also nice looking wheels. I suppose the main to look for with wheels is safety, correct size and one that's fairly silent. I guess really it doesn't matter what wheel we get as long as it is big enough and safe enough for the hamster intended and quietness prob isn't really an issue if the hamster cages are somewhere where you will not be disturbed at night.

Zooplus are cheaper on postage. Even to down here in Spain it only cost 7,99GBP for the whole package, not per item.

I've just sent for a 28cm Trixie Wooden wheel (cork lined), set of bendy bridges, little climbing frame thing, and agrass hammock - all for the same postage.

And the Trixie wheel was reduced to 9.99GBP - result!!

The oil is just for the hole, it doesn't drip down the wheel, barely need any but totally out of reach for the hamster. The sides of the q-tip is absorbant so it's not dripping oil.

It's definitely aggravating that wheels need to be oiled! Why not use pure vegetable oil? This is what I have always used with my hamsters as it's safe if accidentally ingested and it gets the job done!

Veg oil is safer for them.

Yes I like zooplus I suppose it works out good when you buying a few things. Wow that's a bargain must check that wheel out just for a look. Good that it's cork lined to prevent splinters.

I have these for my Russians! As long as there's nothing for it to hit against then they're completely silent Stephano's one I've had for 5 or 6 months and I've never had a problem with it. I've got them in the largest size they do (I think 17cm?) which apparently for Syrians but my Syrian wouldn't even fit in it, to be honest.

17 cm would be about 6.6 inches That's definitely more robo sized than anything,as Russians would need a 7-9 inch wheel. If it were 19 cm instead,it could fit a very tiny Russian dwarf, but only just barely and it wouldn't be suitable for long term use as it would easily be outgrown and would certainly not be as comfortable as an 8-9 inch wheel(with the best wheel being the 9 inch Silent Runner,of course).
