Re: Suitable wheel for a winter white hybrid dwarf
I know you found them to be noisy cypher just wondering if anyone else has had them and what they thought of them as a wheel as they are similar to the WW and seem to be quite popular.

Re: Suitable wheel for a winter white hybrid dwarf
Wodent wheels have been hard to get hold of for a while now, not sure why but I guess there must be a shortage from the manufacturer although rodipet always have them, very expensive delivery though!
I think it really is pot luck with the Trixie wheel, some are fine, mine (I had two) were so bad I binned them!
The silent runner wheel is out of stock at the moment too but if you want to make a good investment they really are the quietest, really made to last & just that bit less fiddly to take apart & put back together for cleaning.

Re: Suitable wheel for a winter white hybrid dwarf
Had a look on rodipet and even on Amazon as there is someone who ships from the uk. Actually pet planet is working out the cheapest all in. I did purchase my 27cm one from rodipet, I didn't think it was too bad priced then. What wheels do you have for your hams?

Re: Suitable wheel for a winter white hybrid dwarf
I have silent runners, 4 of them, a bit pricey but worth it!

Re: Suitable wheel for a winter white hybrid dwarf
Most SS are garbage, but once in awhile you'll find a good one, mine are all silent. Maybe I'm lucky
I use the mini wheels for baby robos
If they don't spin freely & you can return it, you should as its defective
If it does ever get noisy you can loose the yellow knob & spray olive oil in it. That works temporarily. I think if they make noise the wheel is defective too & take back to the store if you can

Indeed! All in from sugar glider shop for a SR it would cost me 26 I think including p&p and all in from pet planet for a WW 23 so really I guess for extra 3 pound a silent runner would be a good investment and it's true good wheels you'll have for years providing you don't have a chewer that will destroy them it's a pity they are out of stock. For now I have opted for the junior WW and I do like them as a wheel. Can always get the silent runner for hammy number 3

Yes I think il stay clear of them, I think it's all down to what we like the look of as well. Glad though yours have all turned out to be silent! There's nothing worse than a really noisy well :/ but I have got used to the WW and don't find it too bad

Re: Suitable wheel for a winter white hybrid dwarf
I use a q-tip & dip it in baby oil & put it in the holes on from & back after cleaning. That makes them quiet I find

Be careful with oil, baby oil might not be safe.If you can get a pure hamster-safe oil it would be fine, but just because it is safe for humans doesn't mean it's safe for hamsters

Re: Suitable wheel for a winter white hybrid dwarf
I have two karlie wooden wheels for my roborovski hamsters (from zooplus) they are lovely and quiet. I painted them with cuprinol garden shades to protect them from wee.
