Question Hamster cage question

I'm work in a school and we are learning all about the care of different pets and how to properly take care of animals! So far we have had hedgehogs/dogs/horse/pigs etc and they have asked me to bring in my hamster however is it ok that she goes in a plastic box sort of large enough for a house/wheel just for a few hours so she can visit I have a travel case so for car she can go in there however I don't want to drag her huge cage and move it as it won't fit in my car? I really want the children to understand hamster care etc

I'd say for a few hours it would be fine I guess you have to think of all the hamsters in shows and how they deal with being there just fine so I wouldn't think it would be an issue. Just try to take extra precautions to keep stress down, and keep all her old toys and stuff with her scent on it so she's comfortable. I think it's lovely that the children will get to learn how to properly care for hamsters!

A lot will depend on your hamsters, if she's used to different people around her & quite sociable then she should be ok & a small travel cage would be fine for a few hours.
Being surrounded by children at a time when they are normally asleep can be extremely stressful for some hamsters though.

She is so chilled plus the class have been amazing and understand how some animals need silence to relax so I'm sure she will be fine as long as there a treat she loves attention
It will only be for about 2 hours max as I'll pop and get her not leave her alday.
I'll use her fitch toys etc from her cage so she will smell herself and I'll only be holding her but I'll pop her in her palypen for her to run around etc!
I'm really pleased they have showed an interest about good hamster care!

I was going to suggest - if you have a pet carrier, take her in that, and take a plastic bin with Fitch, house and wheel in with you. It would be safer transporting her in a pet carrier and then transferring her to the bin when you get there. If a car has to break hard or something they can get thrown to one side and injured if they are in too large a space in a car. A pet carrier can be wedged in between the back and front seats so it can't move and padded out with Fitch so she can't get thrown.

If you don't have a pet carrier, maybe just be very careful! Also whatever she is in needs to be escape-proof! So if no pet carrier, maybe small plastic bin with vent holes punched in, with fitch and small house for transporting her and taking a larger bin with you with Fitch and wheel.

She'll be fine, so long as she has some ventilation and gets to use the same bedding and toys with her scent on them.

Just make sure the kids know it's only a travel cage and that hamsters need something much bigger for everyday usage
