Default Samla Bin Question

I just bought a new potential ikea bin for my female syrian Jenny. The samla 130L dimensions are 30.75in x 22in x17in. Is this a decent size? I keep seeing the rule of 360sq. in minimum in US and Canada or 480sq. in EU. I believe this bin is 650 to 665sq.

Hi there. I personally think the Samla is a bit too small for a Syrian. It slopes in quite a bit at the base. It's a good size for a dwarf hamster, if it has plenty of deep substrate in (thus increasing the floor area a bit higher up).

I think the informal recommendation in the US now is a minimum of 450 square inches. One of these would make a good sized bin for a Syrian but they only seem to have them in stock in threes rather than singles. Maybe if you have a store nearby you could get a single one.

You can also get a 40 gallon breeder tank for $40 when Petco have their dollar a gallon sales on - not sure when the next one is though.

As Serendipity said, it's a bit too small for a Syrian. You could buy another bin and attatch it to this one. (Direct connection!) Isn't tapering annoying?
