Open Wheel
I just made a hamster wheel and attached it to my bin cage using ErinsAnimals' way. I would post a link, but my keyboard is being super glitchy. I was wondering however if I should keep the lid on the storage container I'm using for the wheel and cut holes in it, or if I should just remove the lid and have an open wheel (like a Silent Spinner). I heard somewhere that hanmsters feel more secure in the first option, but also that hamsters have difficulty getting out in the first option.

Re: Open Wheel
I think it's totally dependent on your hamster! Is your little one confident, agile, and social? If so, an open wheel could work just fine (but a closed wheel would be just as good). Or is your hamster shy, skittish, and more prone to falling off their wheel? If they are the before mentioned things, a closed wheel would benefit them more. In the end, choose what's easiest for you and which your hamster would feel more comfortable in. Make sure to share pictures of the finished product

Re: Open Wheel
Ok! I'll prepare a lid in case the hamster needs one and keep it on hand. Will post pics of wheel soon.

Re: Open Wheel
Sounds good! Looking forward to seeing the pics. I think if your ham uses it without the front you won't need the front. An open wheel is easier to give a wipe round What kind of wheel did your ham have before? If they're used to an open wheel they'll be fine I expect.

Re: Open Wheel
I actually haven't got the hamster yet, just prepping the cage and everything
