Post silent spinner issues

i brought my two dwarf hamsters a silent spinner but they don't use it, they do have a flying saucer which they both use but they don't use the silent spinner. ive noticed that Luna (whos more energetic) has tried to use the silent spinner but its too stiff and she cant actually move it. I tried oiling it and it didn't make a difference. does anyone know any solutions to make the wheel less stiff easier to run on.

the size of wheel could be to heavy for them I use 6.5 with my robos and a flying saucer and they prefer the flying saucer. there has been some people thinking the saucers are bad but I personally think there great. If the silent spinner is to big I also believe that isn't that good as smaller hamster species will find it harder but not to small or there back will bend. if ur wheel if atached to bars baby thing about putting it on a stand or the other way round it might be the way its attached. or it might just be they prefer the flying saucer like my robos

hope this helped x

The new design silent spinners just don't work properly so you'd do better to replace the wheels with something else.
Don't know where you are but good options here in the UK are the 20cm Karlie wonderland wheel, silent runner or P@H do a wheel that looks similar to the silent spinner but actually works!

Unfortunately, this is just a silent spinner thing. They jam up and there's really not much you can do. Cypher gave some good suggestions for better wheels. Silent spinners are very popular wheels, it's such a shame they're so faulty!

You can't oil them as the yellow unit contains a ball bearing that the whole thing runs on and this is sealed. Have you had it apart at all for cleaning? If you have immersed the yellow bit in water it could be that it has seized up however it could be that it isn't assembled correctly. Unscrew the front yellow knob and look at the connections. There is a notch in one side of the white inside and the protruding bit on the other and these must fit together before it is screwed up again. It is quite tricky to keep it together and screw it up again as it easily jumps out of place. If you haven't had it long and it still does not turn then it is one of the faulty batch and you should return it for a refund.
Even the smallest hamster should be able to turn a properly assembled one so I'd try refitting that central bit to check if that works
