Smile Disinfecting new bendy bridge

Hi! Does anyone know if there is a need to disinfect a new bendy bridge? I bought the Hagen Living World TreeHouse Real Wood Logs. If there is a need to disinfect it, how can I do it? Thanks!

There's no need to disinfect it as the wood was most likely kiln dried, which kills pests and disinfects it. There shouldn't be any need to worry, I hope your ham enjoys their new bridge!

I just opened the packaging and realise there is this weird dried up liquid thing on one of the logs (refer to pic). Anyone knows what it might be and whether it is safe for my hamster?

Hm, it could be sap but it doesn't quite look how normal sap would. If you could, maybe return it in exchange for another one just to be safe?

I would return it! That doesn't look like sap. I am kinda skeptical on these types of things, because I don't want anything happen to my hammie. My recommendation is to return and get you a new one.

As for your other question, personally I don't usually clean bendy bridges. As long as it is packaged well, with no tampering(holes, tears, etc in packaging) I don't worry about it. If there is tampering in packaging, I always let it sit in a hot water/detergent solution. After letting it soak for a hour, I scrub and rinse. Then, I let it dry completely. Four or seven days depending on your humidity level and where you live.

Hope this helps you.
