Yep plain white toilet tissue is the best. All mine love shredding it. Kitchen roll is not as good for them apparantly.

Kitchen roll isn't as good, since it would likely have dyes added which might be unsafe. It also is thicker and doesn't fall apart as easy, since kitchen roll is designed to be sturdy and clean messes well while toilet roll generally should be septic safe and therefore easily fall apart Hopefully that could at least shed some light on that, since it might seem a bit odd if they're both paper products yet perform differently with one being potentially suitable for hamster nesting and the other not being suitable at all.

With an paper if in doubt try the water test, just put a small piece in water & see if it turns to mush in seconds like toilet tissue does, kitchen roll & tissues don't usually so aren't entirely safe.

I removed the old bedding from Winnie's cage last night. I'll have to take out all the smaller pieces when I spot clean today. I am very glad that I found out about how unsafe it was! just wish I had known sooner. Is there a specific thread for hamster products/toys/cages and the like which are unsafe to use? If not then I think it could be useful
