Would this be a suitable play pen for a hamster?
So, I have been looking for a suitable play pen for my Syrian and as I live in a house with uneven tiled floors the metal fence style ones aren't really suitable - I would be too scared he would escape under a gap in the floor.
I was looking on Amazon, and saw this one which seems ideal. As the sides and floor are all attached then there is no way for him to escape.
What do you think?

It looks like a good idea, I'd order the large size as you probably would I wish Amazon UK would sell to USA a lot more.

Re: Would this be a suitable play pen for a hamster?
I was thinking of the larger size, but I'm not sure if it would be too big for my room. In some of the customer photos it people have used it for dogs that have puppies and I think that may be a little too large.
I'll have to measure my room and see!

It would be a huge risk as it is fabric and would be chewed threw especially by hamsters If you make something out of solid storage cubes or coroplast it would most likely be cheaper, plus it would be much more durable and have no escape risks if set up well! You could even use cardboard in a pinch, which isn't chewproof, but is cheaper and safer as chewed materials would get ingested and at least cardboard is digestible!
You can make a base for a playpen out of the same material as the sides,by the way. Most people find metal ones completely pointless as hamsters escape too easy from them, but with solid sides which are tall enough to not get climbed that risk is eliminated!

I had a small one of those for dwarf hams for a while & they are ok but would need close supervision in case your ham took to chewing.

The stylish playpen thread here looks like a good solid sided playpen. It folds up for easier storage. It can also be added to to make it bigger and even made taller if a hamster manages to climb over the side.
A floor could be made separately if needed.

I use something very similar! It works well but never leave unattended, you always need to be on the lookout for chewing
