Bins are definitely good with dwarf hamsters! My Syrian of course isn't happy with her 80 cm x 50 cm bin cage, but some hamsters are extremely different However that size or even a bit smaller could work just fine for a lot of dwarf hamsters! It isn't expensive to get a dwarf sized bin,or even for Syrians starting with one bin and taming them in that and then eventually adding on by removing walls of bins could be a great and affordable option.

That would be an option Aim for a 20 long though,as they have more floor space than a regular 20 gallon tank.

A bin cage would save you money though,as a 20 long and storebought lid at Petco for example will cost you $40.I haven't ever found clips for that either, and I know the Zilla clips definitely aren't compatible with Aqueon tanks and Petco lids. However,it shouldn't be necessary to have clips anyways for a robo as long as you take reasonable precautions!

Technically you could but you shouldn't.It is extremely important for any species to have a secure top!Accidents happen, and it is too easy for a hamster to end up chewing a hole into a wall or chewing a cord and getting electrocuted or eating something toxic

Oh that's true :c lets say i did get a top, instead of getting all the stuff to like mesh the top could i just cut out multiple holes in the top?

It wouldn't be as secure. It would be chewable plastic which could become an escape risk if chewed large enough, along with not being very healthy if it were ingested after said chewing!

If you plan on having future hamsters it is definitely worth getting the tools and materials to make mesh lids.A wood burning knife can be used to cut the hole, these can be very cheap, and they can also be used on DIY toys to make letters or designs. They can usually be used to cut stencils out of plastic as well,so for painting toys this could help instead of freehanding.Zip ties don't cost much at all,and mesh isn't expensive either considering how much you can get with a whole roll.

You could make carriers, travel cages, etc with bins and these things,so it definitely wouldn't be a waste of money
