Cage help please!
I just got to measure my cage and my hamster cages are WAY WAY too small! I feel so bad, so can you please comment below any cages that are suitable to house hamsters. Here are my hamster cages' measurements
Alvin's cage= 195.8cm2
Waffles cage= 147.46cm2
See? That's way too small, please help!

re: Cage help please!
Which species of hamster, and about how large are they? That would help a lot to be able to figure out a good size cage and then consider budget as well to find something just right!

re: Cage help please!
Zoo plus have larger cages at good prices. Alaska, Barney and Alexander are all good sizes.

Re: Cage help please!
You could try making a bin cage and the Ferplast Duna cages are good (there's different sizes for you to choose too) but they can be expensive.

Re: Cage help please!
If I remember rightly you have Russian hamsters, am I correct?
Russian hamsters aren't as small/slim as Roborovski or Chinese so they should be ok with a slightly wider bar spacing than you might see recommended for some dwarf hamsters. They're also not the greatest of climbers so it's best to look for a cage that isn't too high. Popular choices for a barred cage include the Alaska, Barney or the Alexander which are all available through Zooplus. Other commercial cage options include tank style cages such as the Zoozone, which will need meshing on the roof and the Duna Multy/Maxi.
If you're willing to do a bit of DIY then a bin cage might be an option for you and the largest Ikea Samla bin is a popular choice of bin for this task. .
A lot will depend on your budget and what kind of cage you feel will suit your hamsters needs best but the ones mentioned are all popular options that people on this forum use.

Re: Cage help please!
I agree with the other suggestions - they're all great cages.
If any of those wouldn't be suitable, is there something specific that you need to stick to e.g. a budget, or particular physical dimensions within your home?

Re: Cage help please!
40 gallon tanks could work for smaller dwarf hamsters! They wouldn't be that easily available in the UK though, and if they were available it is likely they'd be ridiculously expensive and then a lid would need to be purchased or made as well adding yet again even more expense making it hardly worth it compared to a bin cage of the same size.

I see you live in London - someone has just posted a brand new Alaska cage on Gumtree for £30, in Tooting https://www.gumtree.com/p/pet-equipm...age/1202952226
