Coco's new cage
I've had Coco around two and a half months now and when I first got her she was housed in a hamster heaven, although it is a good cage Coco's quite big and after looking around on youtube I found detolf cages and decided to get one for her, and I finally got all the stuff to put in and decided to show you guys I'm not sure if its too crowded in there or if I should take things out but Coco tends to like being in tunnels and hiding. Sorry if the image is a bit wonky I'm still getting used to this

Re: Coco's new cage
Looks like she will have fun in there. You may find the sand and substrate gets mixed.

Re: Coco's new cage
Wow a detolf! Lucky hammy. It looks great and I'm sure she'll love it. I find sand and substrate gets mixed wherever you put it lol! Charlie removes the sand and chucks it places. At some point having the substrate deeper could be good (I know the detolf takes a lot but it'll be easier to clean if it's deeper and allow for burrowing as well). So you won't need to clean the glass base very often. And I think if it was deeper then the sand could go deeper too maybe and be fenced a bit more. But we're just nit-picking! It looks great.

Re: Coco's new cage
yeah I have been putting the substrate deeper but Coco seems to have other ideas to how her cage should look lol she's very particular about where things should be. i'm wondering how I'm going to find it "re-decorated" tomorrow she's already decided the little wooded carrots made a much better bedroom decoration if you can see them poking out in the top left hand corner.

Re: Coco's new cage
Looks like Coco will enjoy her new cage. It looks lovely also your cage doesn't look too crowded and if Coco is having fun then it's fine. It's cute to hear she has done some redecorating herself - it's always cute seeing how they redo their cages to how they want it to be.

Re: Coco's new cage
That's some size. I would put more substrate in, some extra hidey toys, hams love to be able to burrow and hide. Having extra hide outs will make them feel safe.
