You don't really need a second level as it will only let him access the top bars to chew them. Plenty room for all sorts of toys of your choice in this cage though. Just be sure to buy big ones. Apart from a wheel ours are just as happy with cardboard boxes and plastic tunnels. We are not so keen on wooden toys as if they are weed on you cannot clean them properly.
Ours like these in particular

They also like plastic pipes from B&Q plumbing section. You can buy nice big sturdy plastic pipes there.

Oooh I love those suspension bridges, I have been planning on getting one, that is nice and cheap too! thank you for the link. I'm not sure he'd be too keen on the puzzle kit, he is such a scardey cat when it comes to going through small areas...
but Bunsey, that is a great idea for the gravy granules tube, they are quite wide too, I think they should be wide enough for him, I will definatley give that a go, I want to see my hammy have a little fun, he's not quite on the wild side
I will probably end up giving him an egg box too!
I didn't get much decision today when it came to the cage, I wanted to wait to get the Ferplast Duna, but my partner decided we would get and extension for the 'aquarium' that we have, which cost us £60
just for the wired parts from p@h. He's had to modify it a bit to fit our cage. All seems good so far, but I would still have prefered the Ferplast! Pfft men
