Brilliant idea I see your point. Making a lid that will sit on securely if the bins are joined together could be a bit tricky. This tutorial idea might work (gives scope for the mesh to bend a bit) but you might need some kind of fixing to attach the wood part to the bin to kind of lock it on a bit.

But I can see that curved bin tops where the two bins meet once concertina'd together, could leave a gap under the mesh. It might just be easier to get the Christmas tree bin!

Re: Adding on another bin
Ok, and I forgot to mention, for the lids I will just cut them off at the same length as the bins and then just join them together with zipties! BIngo! One huge lid.
Also, what should I do with Zero while I attach his cage to the new one? I can have the new one prepped but will have to take him and everything else out of the bin to cut off the end and join them. Should I set up a playpen? I figure it should take me about 15 minutes tops. Like I said before I do have siblings that can take care of him/ watch him if I put him in a play pen.

Re: Adding on another bin
Do you have a carrier you could put him in, with some bedding? I do that when I do cage cleans
I was going to say it might have been easier to have had two lids, as they'd have been easier to remove maybe?

Re: Adding on another bin
what do you mean two lids? Do you mean still cut off the ends so they will go together but dont connect them so I can remove each seperately? And no, sadly I do not have a carrier yet (probably need to get one) but I think I can set him up in a big box with toys and stuff and have my siblings watch him.

Re: Adding on another bin
So I got started! Cut off one end of the new bin and cut out windows on the sides and lid. Meshed them over as well. I didn't have the time to actually move Zero into his playpen and get his original bin ready, really I probably did but I wanted plenty of time if something did go wrong !
