Anyone else use 8" wheels for their roborovski?
So my little robo Shiitake is very fussy when it comes to wheels and refused to use anything except her 7.5" flying saucer for the year I've owned her.
I bought an 8" wheel while on holiday for my Syrian Zosia as she was so small at the time she needed the smaller size. Now that she's 3 months old I saw her back starting to arch a little so gave her a 12" flying saucer instead. I said I'd try shii on the comfort wheel so it wouldn't go to complete waste and she's fallen in love with it. She refused any smaller except the 8" wheel.
Anyone else use larger wheels for their robos or have had this problem before?
Also I really recommend the 8" for them she runs so comfortably on it with her back completely flat it's so nice.

I use 8 or 9" wheels for my Russians & Chinese, I haven't had a robo to compare but I think in Germany 8" is about the standard size for robos.

I use 8 in Wodent Wheel Jr for my 2 robos & they love them as they can climb in and out of the little holes.

Bigger wheels are completely fine as long as the hamster in question can turn the wheel.Something like a Silent Runner in the 9" size would even work for very tiny hams and mice, because it isn't heavy despite being a larger size. Also unlike a lot of wheels they're enclosed so the hamster using them cannot go flying off, which can be an issue with Silent Spinners and Comfort Wheels and Flying Saucers and other open wheels.

Re: Anyone else use 8" wheels for their roborovski?
I have to say that they seem to adjust after they fly off a couple time lol. They get right back on & keep going. The medium sized flying saucer is a must for Latte but Maddi didn't care for it. So I took I out of her cage.
The 6.5in Silent spinner works good too, as long as you get one with no resistance so the hamster can move it. The 6.5 size is much better than the 4 in wheel. I put Maddi in a 6.5 in Silent Spinner right away when she was young with no problems. I had Carefresh bedding if she flew off in the beginning.
But if you can get a 8 in Wodent Wheel would be better in my opinion anyways

Re: Anyone else use 8" wheels for their roborovski?
One of mine has an 8" one, it's like an exercise ball with a plastic stand. With particularly tiny robos they can struggle to turn the wheel. Goose (who's a bit smaller than Zero.) has a 6.5 inch flying saucer, and honestly she has a little trouble turning it but once she gets into the swing it's fine. Neither of them arch their backs though, so that's good.
