Default New toys, sanitisation?

I got a couple of bendy bridges from Poundland, would it be over the top to sanitise them? Of course, there might be a risk of germs or something from the new toys, but I don't want to baby their immune systems, since it might cause them problems if they're ever exposed to harmful germs. Advice?

They'd probably have wire so you can't boil them as it wouldn't be safe, but freezing wouldn't hurt.

I've never bothered to sanitise new bendy bridges, really don't think you need worry tbh.

I agree with Cypher, have not ever had trouble with new wood toys/bridges. If you don't feel comfortable I'd freeze it for 3 days

I put all bark wood stuff in the freezer I'm paranoid lol. After getting a bark wood house with woodworm holes in If it's plain smooth wood like pine I don't bother.

A week in the freezer should kill anything. I wrap stuff in a plastic bag first so it doesn't get ice crystals. In fact anything that isn't plastic or ceramic goes in the freezer first usually. I freeze hamster food first now as well after having an unpleasant experience with moths. Anything with hay I freeze too. I need a bigger freezer.

I would only sanitize items if they have been in contact with other animals and items that have been used such as second hand items(for cage themes). I don't know if it's a bad thing but i believe that store bought products that are wrapped in plastic(which most things are over here) are clean.

It depends what you want to achieve, freezing for a minimum of 48hrs, preferably up to a week will kill any little bugs that might be in bark, I do that for larger items but not ladders, but it won't sanitise them as bacteria can survive freezing temps so to sanitise boiling or baking are the best options, again I wouldn't bother with ladders.

It generally won't hurt it if another animal hasn't used it. Especially if it came wrapped up in plastic.
