That really depends on the dwarf, some will love the space if it's set up well but it is high so you have to take care they can't climb & fall, Russian hams are very good at climbing up but have absolutely no idea how to get down so they tend to just let go!
If the ham is nervous then I would say begin with something smaller, your ham would feel more secure & it will make interaction a lot easier in the beginning.

It should be safe from escapes at that age, I have a Chinese ham in mine & she's slimmer than Russian ham.

The Duna Multy is also a popular tank style cage for a dwarf hamster and about the same price as the Alaska No issues with bar spacing either. With the Alaska you do get a bit more floorspace, but it would need setting up carefully with levels etc to avoid fall risks, which could end up costing more as well, buying extra shelves and so on - but then you would have extra enrichment. The Duna multy has the advantage of being able to have deeper substrate for tunneling though. Another option is the Kerry Terrarium at Zooplus but that is more expensive - about £69.

Duna Multy (only place I know that sells it at a reasonable price. Delivery is plus £2.95 but they do next day delivery usually). It comes in different colours - red, blue and brown - don't think you get a choice though, but you could try adding a note on an order for a particular colour! This is the standard Duna Multy 71cm wide - not to be confused with the smaller mini duna.

Cage Duna Multy

Amazon also sell the maxi duna multy which is a 100cm version so lots of floorspace for enrichment and deep substrate, as it's a bit taller as well. But it's quite expensive.

This is the kerry Terrarium from Zooplus

Hamster Cages: great selection at zooplus: Small Pet Terrarium Kerry

All of those have 7mm bar spacing on the lids, the Alaska has 1cm bar spacing but as Cypher says, some people do use it for dwarf hamsters.

Anything up to but not above 1cm is fine, unless it's a tiny baby robo or chinese 1cm is no problem for dwarf hams.
Personally I prefer barred cages for my dwarfs but as I said you would need to be very careful setting up an alaska, a safer (although more expensive) option is something like the Hamster Heaven (I don't advise using the tubes or penthouse though) or the Savic Mickey, both have good bar spacing & plenty of room for a dwarf but aren't so high so you don't have the same concern about falls.

The Kerry is a nice tank but hard to manage as it weighs a ton!

I got Draven a duna multy from Miscota for £31 something. Free delivery if you spend over a certain amount. Which I did, getting carried away with toys and accessories for everyone!

I had the Savic Mickey 2XL before our current cage and it is a really great cage for a dwarf hammy - lower than the Alaska, and has 7mm bar spacing (suitable for mice so definitely fine for dwarf hammies) and a nice big front opening door. Unfortunately it is ridiculously expensive at about £80 plus and only available on Amazon. But it is the same cage as the Hamster Heaven that Cypher mentioned - only difference is the bar spacing and the hamster heaven has external tubes, but these can be removed and blocked off. You can often find a Hamster Heaven second hand for a good price. The height is 36cm internally so less of a fall risk, especially if the substrate is nice and deep.

Savic Mickey 2XL currently £90 So there are cheaper options.

There are some good cages with small bar spacing available from Amazon in Germany and they ship to the Uk. This one is about £55 including postage. Someone on here has it. It's 100 cm cage with narrow 7mm bar spacing and also a good low height for a dwarf hammy at 35cm tall - more like 34cm internally probably and a nice deep base. It's basically a duna multy with bars at the top instead of perspex really though.

https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00...=AWRT7Q6PCDDEQ

A few options there anyway, but you can't really go wrong with a duna multy or Hamster Heaven.
