Wheel & toys for a Syrian

What wheel and toys would you recommend for a large adult Syrian hamster please?
They're to go in an Alexander cage.

We already use fitch being for the rabbits litter trays, can I also use this as hamster bedding?

Fitch makes great hamster substrate, you just need to add in a pile of shredded unscented plain white toilet tissue for your ham to build a nest.

Most hamster toys are too small for syrians so it's often best to look at things meant for rats or guinea pigs.
If you have a look at this thread it will give you a good idea of the things others use for their hams & how they set their cages up.

The wheel should be 11 or 12 inch. Although it may look too big when they are babies, it saves on buying another big wheel when they are adults.

I would also recommend a 11" or 12" wheel as this prevent their back arching when using their wheel, cypher has linked a very good thread with different types of wheels.
For toys I would recommend these (these are a favourite of my Syrian) these are a few ideas but rat tunnels, cardboard boxes are some of the best idea for toys. Most toys designed for hamsters can be too small for Syrians.

• Willow tunnel (10cm one) - Great deals on cages and accessories for small animals at zooplus: Willow Tunnel - this is by far one of my Sherbet favourite tunnels and she used to chew the willow as well
• Bendy bridges - small and medium - Wicker Bridge for Small Pets at zooplus - can be made into tunnel and the medium can provide a small level
• Rat tunnels - Savic Play Tunnel Giant Tube | Great deals on small pet accessories at zooplus! - these are the ideal size for an adult Syrian

Zooplus is a good website to get suitable size toys for Syrians including wheels.
Fitch is an excellent substrate for hamsters, that is what I use for mine, also I use shredded tissues for nesting material.
