Default Cages for a new ham?

Hello all,

So I have been considering a new ham and have found one that I love but cages...

So I have Nutmeg in two Billy Cages The new ham would have no cage unless Nutmeg moves into one of them which I don't think is fair.
So I have a plastic tub measuring 65x43cm which I know is too small but in September I would get another Billy cage, would it be ok if the new ham goes in that for a bit until my nest IKEA trip?

Thanks

What species? You could do a double Billy for a dwarf,or an L shaped setup with 4 Billy units for a Syrian! There are also Lack tables though which would be cheaper and all you'd have to do for those is staple mesh onto the sides where the legs are and make substrate borders for them,so that is an extremely easy choice as well, but you'd still need the same amount of units for Lack tables.

It is a Campebell's Russian Dwarf Hybrid, I can't get to Ikea this week. I know I am going to get a Billy or something similar for the new ham (if I get it) but as for now is that cage ok for a while?

What you could do is just start with the one Billy unit and then eventually remove the side wall and add the extra unit that way.

That size bin would be fine as a starter cage.

So the bin cage in sq. inches is actually larger than one billy cage so I think I will go with the bin cage. When I go to Ikea though I would get 2 Billy cages for the new ham, I would need to make a lid though for the new cage

Also thanks cypher

That is good You could also have the bin cage lying around as a travel cage too once the permanent setup is made, which is always useful!
