Default Best cage for a Robo pair?

So recently I've been looking for a new cage for my two Robos as my current one is too small. Being young girls, 1cm bar spacing would be too big for them and I don't want to risk it. So I either need a tank style cage or a cage with very narrow bar spacing. I'm looking for a cage under about £50 as I only have £35 saved up and my mum doesn't want to spend more than about £15.

The barney cage from zoo plus has 7mm bar spacing. It is approximately 100cm x 50cm. It has a deep base for substrate to burrow in, a corner house, shelf and a wheel. It's quite tall, but robo's aren't meant to be able to climb well so the height may not be a problem. The shelf may need removing as levels can lead to fighting. Each robo needs a wheel, food bowl, water bottle to make sure one doesn't prevent the other from feeding, drinking etc. Hides should have more than one entrance/exit.

You may be able to put a solid divider in if they fight and need separating.

Zoo zone 1 or zoo zone 2 are tank style cages. The wire at the top would need fine mesh adding to prevent escapes.

There are various other cages that would be OK for robo's. Have a look at the cages threads for other ideas.

I would be very careful about height with barred cages, not being able to climb well means they'll still try but are more likely to fall & hurt themselves, I'm not sure there are many barred cages with narrow spacing that wouldn't be too high unless you can get creative with levels or ledges to stop them from climbing.

I wouldn't want to risk putting them in a Barney, that's quite a height to fall for such a tiny hamster. I've been looking at the Elmo XXL as that's the same size as the Barney but 35cm tall

To be honest I'd not want to be looking that big for a pair myself. I've found too much space as dangerous as too little for pairs and given the choice I'd prefer to stay somewhere around the 70x40cm mark. Have you considered something like the duna multy or fop lucio? The lucio is only about £35 (but is often out of stock on ebay) and you can get the duna multy for around £45 too

I would love a Detolf but we only have space for a 100cm cage and no more

I agree with this. My pair fell out after moving into a duna maxi. One is in an alaska and the other is now back in her smaller grsvenor rat and hamster cage which she is so happy in compared to the elmo xxl ... which is now sitting empty.

Aw that's a shame perhaps a smaller aquarium cage?

Hmm that's interesting...would a Duna Multy be a better choice then?
