If you have a garden centre nearby. They may have some.

Terracotta or ceramic pots are usually better because slate can crack and break very easily, leaving sharp edges. Hope you find a big Tesco soon - we have one round the corner from us!

I use second hand mugs, teapots etc. I used to have a whole stack of real marble tiles for the hams and I wouldn't recommend them. Pee soaks into real marble.... eeeeew! Good old ceramic crockery is great. If it gets too manky it just goes on a hot wash in the dishwasher and comes out right as rain Raid the charity shops!

Also the plant pot saucers in terracotta are good diy store for that probably. I used to put Charlie's ceramic salt pig in the freezer for 5 minutes, rather than the fridge as it was quicker to cool down. A mug on its side is good as well (also ceramic).
