Help me find a wheel!!
Hi everyone! I'm searching for a new wheel for my Bim. She's currently on a mesh wheel and I am starting to think it hurts her feet maybe plus sometimes it's difficult to move. It needs to be like 8 or 8.5 inches. I've tried the comfort wheel and she didn't seem to like it much because of the stick protruding through the middle--which makes me hesitant to buy a trixie wheel. Even worse, I'm in the US so I need something that will deliver here. I've seen some things on ebay but they seem a little sketch. If anyone has any experiences or any kind of help me and Bim would appreciate it a lot!

Re: Help me find a wheel!!
You really do need to change from the mesh wheel which will damage her feet I would highly recommend the Silent Runner wheels, more easily available in the US than the UK too!
I use the 9" for my dwarf hams but they do a larger size too.

Re: Help me find a wheel!!
I agree with Cypher, the mesh wheel needs to be changed as soon as possible as it puts pressure on the wrong areas of the feet, causing very painful blistering and swelling of the foot - this is known as bumble foot.
Wodent wheels seem to be quite popular in the US though as far as I know they can only be ordered online. They have a more enclosed running track than the comfort wheel, making the hamster feel safer inside. They come in 8', 11" and 12" sizes so are suitable for all species of hamster
The Silent Runner wheels are also very popular in the US however are a bit expensive. They are great, silent wheels though and come in 9" and 12" sizes

Re: Help me find a wheel!!
If it's for a Syrian I'd get the 11" Wodent Wheel or 12" Silent runner (I much prefer the Silent Runner - it's quite light despite being a bit taller, has a safe sturdy metal stand, spins really well and is silent).
For a dwarf the 8" Wodent wheel or 9" Silent Runner. The 9" is good for a dwarf hammy as they can run in them so well due to them being light and spinning well.
I think the Silent Runners aren't too expensive in the US - they are in the Uk because they're imported.
Silent Runner 12 inch - Silent Runner Wheel 12 inch
Wodent Wheel 11 inch - Wodent Wheels
The Silent Runner costs $5 more but it's worth it.
The only thing I'm thinking is also maybe get your hammy's feet looked at by a vet if you think they are hurting her. They can get a condition called bumblefoot from metal grid type things and it might need treatment. Definitely get rid of the wire one though - they're a bit dangerous as well - hammies can get trapped in them sometimes.

Re: Help me find a wheel!!
Bucket wheels are a great option, especially in the US.You could make your own or purchase one!
The benefits of a bucket wheel are that they are entirely custom to your liking if you spend time selecting individual things. They are entirely silent except for the pitter patter of hammy feet and whirring, which all wheels have regardless. They do cost a bit to purchase, but making one may cost less!It really would only take a drill and a good saw or knife though if you want to make one,as you could make a 12 inch wheel instead of the 10.5 Carolina Storm Express wheels.
The only major drawback I could see is the cost, but really they are only about 10 dollars more than a Comfort Wheel if you purchase one.
Really, they're worth it for the silence and ease of cleaning and also the extra benefit of being able to arrange them at any height you want due to a PVC pipe stand that,if you purchase a CSE or make your own bucket wheel,is completely adjustable from various settings.
Overall bucket wheels are a very good option, much easier to clean and a larger variety of sizing than most wheels. They're also great for longhaired Syrians due to the lack of a spindle, which is something all wheels have.
It should be easy to find Carolina Storm wheels though, just search for Carolina Storm on google and it should come up within the first few options for their website. They are US based, which in your situation is a very good thing!

I bought the bucket wheel. I got it in 2 days, they ship very fast. Patro'n was sleeping but heard me put it in her cage & went right for it. She seems to love it! It is a bit big for her right now but she is only 3 months old. I love that it is adjustable and they sent spare parts. This was a fantastic recommendation as I have made some large purchases that were all wrong & a waste of money. The only disappointment was it doesn't come in purple, so I got the sparkly blue for her. She doesn't care anyway LOL! So, thanks again I highly recommend this seller.
