Funny, I think the grey and black looks the best. Very Tim Burton-esque

It is the same wheel as the plastic Trixie. Most of my syrians and quite a few of my dwarf hams have them, we've never had a problem with noise from them either. We must have had our oldest one in near constant use for about five years now too so its doing pretty well for us

I was in the pet shop today looking for some toys for the guinea pigs, I didn't find anything I liked for them but I did see an enclosed wheel in the shop that I thought I'd look into. It was a Savic Orbital. Does anyone have any thoughts on it?

I'm still considering which wheel will be the best option for Jessie as we're getting nowhere with this Silent Spinner full of Fitch and there's such a huge range of options out there to choose from.

I had one of those years ago, it might be ok on substrate but I only used it in the playpen as it doesn't sit on a shelf or hang on bars well, it is fairly noisy too.
The metal pin in the middle is a real fiddle to get out for cleaning, probably the thing I liked about it least.
If your main problem is Jessie filling her wheel with substrate I'm not sure that would help, it didn't take Zen long to fill a silent runner before I put it on a shelf so one of those would probably be easy to fill, just harder to get it all out again!

That thought didn't occur to me but it's a very good one.

I adore Jessie but at times she can be a real rascal and I'm wondering what is the best course of action. If I empty it, she'll only fill it up again but she clearly enjoys doing it and I think that taking the wheel off her entirely will deprive her of that.

The bin cage isn't high enough to have the Silent Spinner on her level but I could put the Flying Saucer on it for her to run on and leave the Silent Spinner in as a toy that she can fill with Fitch to her heart's content.

I know what you mean, I find it impossible not to adore them all the more for their waywardness even though it does have me tearing my hair out sometimes lol!

Has she had the flying saucer in before? It sounds like a good solution if you can stop the flying saucer from flying round the cage, that's what mine used to do before I gave up on them! She might even learn to empty the silent spinner herself so she can use it for it's proper purpose when she wants to.

The first wheel she had in her cage was the saucer but we used to put it on the substrate rather than on her platform. I'll give it a go and see how she gets on.

Silent runner? She might enjoy it so much she doesn't bother to fill it with substrate Plus it has the semi enclosed front as well - downside is it isn't cheap - but they are very light spin really well and are really easy for them to run in, and have a sturdy stand.

I've got two of the ones you linked to from zooplus (larger size tho), I got one from eBay sold under the trivia brand and one from zooplus. The one that came from zooplus is noisier but both have lasted well. Nibble has a wodent wheel and it's definitely better than the Tricia wheel quality wise.

Since writing this Jessie has moved to a barred cage where she is very happy. The wheel she currently has a cheapo plastic thing that came with Henry's cage. It was too small for him but she's able to use it without being flung off, however it's quite a noisy wheel and I can hear her running in it when she's downstairs and I'm upstairs.

Does anyone know if either the Trixie Wheel or the Wodent Wheel can be attached to a barred cage and also which one is better when it comes to noise levels?
