Bathing sand- odour issue?
Hello!
I've been having issues with smelly sand! I previously used the supreme science brand and it was fine. The small box lasted longer than I expected and the pee seemed to dry up rather than clump.
When this ran out I bought a 5 kg bag of chinchilla sand from zooplus. Since I've been using it Ruble's pee smell has been much more noticeable. It's a strong ammonia smell. It also clumps a lot which is good for removing soiled sand but seems to add to the stink! I've since switched back to the supreme science and the smell is much better.
Has anyone else noticed this? It worried me at first as he's recently recovered from a suspected uti and I thought he might be poorly again until I switched the sand back and the smell reduced.
Any thoughts or experiences are much appreciated! X

Not too sure what would've caused a difference like that, the only thing I can think of is different sands altogether instead of being the same. They seem completely different in terms of composition if one is absorbent and the other clumps, which is a bit strange.I'm not too sure though other than that

Re: Bathing sand- odour issue?
That is a bit strange but sands sold as chinchilla sand do vary a fair bit so best to stick with the tried & tested one.
