Default Best wheel for Syrian

Hey

I currently have the Trixie 11in wheel. But it's started making noises when it's turning. I have had it for overy 2 years.

Would you still recommend it or should I go for something different.

Plastic preferred.

I was going to order it off zooplus but their shipping works out so expensive now plus minimum order is £9 and the wheel is £8.99

Appreciate the advice!

If you've been happy with it then maybe get another one Two years isn't bad for a wheel really. They do cost more on Amazon but some things have free delivery.

The price seems to go up and down. The other day it was about £8.99 and now it is £12.41.

If it's a case of just a small amount extra to get free delivery from Zooplus then maybe get something like this as well to get the free delivery. Or do you still have to pay delivery on top of the £9 order?

Extending Play Tunnel for Small Pets| Free P&P £29+ at zooplus!

There are other wheels but I think the Trixie is the cheapest. The wodent wheels cost a little bit more but do tend to last a long time. The only place that seems to have them in stock for the moment is here - but postage is about another £5 on top.

11" Wodent Wheel (Senior) & Free Glider Shield

The Sugarglider also sell the 12" Silent Runner wheel - I got one recently and really like it, but it is a bit expensive. It has a nice sturdy stand and is silent. I have no idea how long it will last though! They're expensive because they're imported from the US (as are the wodent wheels).

Silent Runner 12"

The Karlie wonderland 29cm wood wheel is quiet and sturdy as well (Zooplus seem to be stocking it again). It's £11.99 so you'd be over the £9 limit but not sure about postage as well. pros and cons to this - you might need to give the track a light sanding if there are any splintery bits, and paint it with plastikote petsafe waterproofing paint (which is another £3 or so on top if you don't have any). Also I had one break on me after about 6 months - but then our Syrian is quite heavy lol! Some people have used them for a long time.

Wonderland Exercise Wheel: Great Small Pet Accessories at zooplus

Or - to avoid postage - if you have a pets at home nearby I believe they sell their own wood wheel that looks very similar (Thin Lizzy posted about it once) - it would probably still need plastikoting though.

I think if it was me and you want to keep costs as low as possible, I'd get another Trixie wheel or a wodent wheel. If you want something that really is silent then the Silent Runner or the Karlie wheel.

It's not about the price. Just the shipping was insanely stupid from zooplus.

Might look into the silent spinner.

Thanks

Yes, I know what you mean about Zooplus shipping - I only ever order cages and wheels with them from there though so it's not an issue for me!

The Silent Runner does sound like a good option, a bit on the expensive side though

Hi - just to point out that the Silent Spinner and the Silent Runner are different wheels The 12" Silent spinner isn't a good option these days. It's massively deep and there have been issues with them not spinning well since a manufacturing change. The 12" Silent Runner (or as I now call it "the orange one" lol) is quiet, not too deep and spins really well!
