Default Kiln-dried pine?

I'm aware that kiln-dried pine shavings and whether they're safe for hammies or not is quite a controversial topic, but I've heard that, in the UK, they are required by law to be kiln dried before they go on the shelves. Does that mean that I could just buy it if it didn't say that it was kiln dried if it has to be by law anyway? Or would I have to buy shavings that say they are kiln dried?

I think you should always check to say that it says kiln dried and dust extracted. I just decided to use Fitch instead and it's lovely and soft too

I always check just in case, there was a thread a couple of weeks ago on this and I spent about two hours searching the legal side of it and couldn't find anything! It's either myth or very well hidden in the depths of the Internet! If you have a wilko near you their shavings are both kiln dried and dust extracted and only £2 for a big bag, I find they don't smell particularly strong like some others too

I use Snowflake shavings which are kiln dried and the hamsters are fine on them They are a little dusty sometimes but much better than other shavings. I find most beddings have dust in them, but the snowflake ones are really good compared to others. If you have a home bargains near you, you can get 4 large bags of snowflake for £7.14.

I wish we could get Fitch here, they won't ship to the island though and a bit far to collect haha! I use megazorb it was dusty the first few times but the last few bags have had no dust I mix it with a few handfuls of carefresh for a zap of colour to break up the brown and extra bedding for them to dig through

Good to hear that Megazorb has got less dusty! Carefresh seems to be available everywhere lol!

Have you looked at Rat Rations? They have a big range of beddings - paper, finacard, hemp - and they ship all over the world. Not Fitch though.
