Default Is it safe?

Hello,

I am just scrolling down on Ebay, trying to collect some stuff to put in the hamster cage. But sometimes I come across things I just don't know if it will be safe if the hamster will chew on it.

Does anyone know here is this is safe to use?(I am sorry if I am not allowed to put this link here):
Mini Colorful Wood Fence DIY Fairy Garden Dollhouse Plant Pot Decor Ornament | eBay

Thank you~

I wouldn't have thought so, it looks as though it could easily be chewed possibly into sharp pieces or pieces that could be swallowed or pouched, also I don't think it says what it's made of or painted with both of which you need to consider when buying things for the cage.

That is true. I guess it is better to make it out of popsicle sticks myself, at least I will be sure that it is safe.

I think that would be best The wire doesn't look to good between the fence posts and the paint could be anything. Some people use a bendy stick bridge on its side as a fence (although that doesn't look white and neat obviously but it's a good divider). Or use dowels stuck to an Ikea knuff for a fence

Also if you have a look on the "let's see your cages" thread there may be lots of ideas for hamster cage toys and accessories. Is it for a syrian?

I found that most toys sold for hamsters are either too small for a syrian, badly made or dangerous! You can sometimes waste a lot of money - I know I did!

A good house is important - one big enough to build a nest in and if you put a tunnel or bridge over the door it makes it nice and dark inside for when they are sleeping during the day. Bendy stick bridges are very useful - they can make a hide, a bridge, a ramp or a tunnel. The usual size is about 20cm by 10cm but there are medium sized ones as well to make a taller ramp or hide.

Tubes for floor toys can be good. Most hamsters like a sandbath so a dish with chinchilla bathing sand is good. When you have the basics there are all kinds of things that can make it look nice and also be fun for the hammy. But always check the size and the size of any hidey places with holes - to make sure the holes are big enough

This is our Syrian's cage if it helps - I use the roof to make an extra run by tying a rat tube up there which leads from a shelf at one end, to his sputnik at the other end and then that leads onto another shelf.
