Default What's your favourite type of cage?

I was curious to find out what everyone's favourite types of cages are, and why they like them.

I went for the wire top cages - but having said that I would like one with a deeper base like a mini aquarium underneath. Something like the Ferplast Karat that has a 25cm deep glass base - unfortunatley the wire part has bad access on that cage. Maybe because I'm used to wire cages but they are good for ventilation and interaction with hammies and you can attach things to the roof and bars.

I'd go for wire top & plastic base too, only with a big access door though, the perfect cage doesn't yet exist for me but that's the best compromise!
I like the ventilation & interaction they allow, would also like to see a deeper base without too high a top ideally for lots of digging & burrowing.

I went with tank style cages, mainly because it gives a good view and hamsters can't chew the bars and are less likely to damage their teeth. Only downside is you can't stack them and they're heavy.

I prefer wire top cages with plastic bases.
I find they have better access which also allows better interaction between you and your hamster. They are easier to customise with toys or shelves by attaching them to the bars and also bottles can be attached easily through the bars to. They also provide good ventilation and they are easier to clean, by taking the two halves apart.
The only downsides are possible bar chewing and bases could be deeper to prevent hamsters from kicking there substrate out.

I went for tank style plastic cages and also have a glass tank too. Love the glass tank as sides are straight but it's ridiculously heavy. I like the plastic tank style but hanging anything is a pain as the barred roof is also the lid. But both mean deep substrate and less fear of the cats having a swipe at them. (Cats aren't allowed in hamster room and the door is always shut but it never know). I am a bit jealous of the access a front door would give if I had a wired cage but not of the mess I remember them making

For me it's bin cages and most of the cages I have are RUB bin cages.

I find that they work best for me because they stack well and the plastic is hardwearing. The main reason I like them is that they can be tailored, when meshing to how I want them and what I want to hang in the cage. For example all of mine have a roof panel that can take a Fuzzbutt hammock and side panels for the corner crushes which are very popular with my Chinese.

Not only that but when you're not using them you can use them to store stuff in if you don't need them to be watertight. I currently have hamster toys in one of my spare bins and some bags in another.

I think a diy cage is perfect, because you can do it exactly the way you want: size, etc. I think I will make one this summer, if I find time

I went for other. I prefer modular cages attached to a large big cage.

I prefer wire top, plastic base because of easier access to the hamster, more easy to setup platforms, roof runs, better ventilation.

I like other styles too as they give deeper depth for substrate, less mess etc.
