Default New home for new robos

Two 99L Sterilite bins connected with swimming pool vacuum hose

They love the sand bath. Not sure why reptile sand is purple.

I would remove the sand immediately as it is a strange color.Reptile sand is extremely expensive compared to children's play sand but children's play sand is also always safe as long as you sterilize it and sift it well, where reptile sand often contains all kinds of things that aren't safe at all for reptiles or hamsters.Reptile sand is actually known as a dangerous thing among the reptile community,or at least the up to date informed side of the reptile community.

Other than that,if the two robos are sharing two cages connected with the tube that is a very bad idea that can and most likely will lead to a fight or territorial behavior and should be corrected immediately as well.

The setup would be great for just one robo with play sand instead of reptile sand, but with two hamsters shelves and levels and such just aren't safe and neither are modular cages that attach to others through tubes.

Can you resize your photos? It's hard to see when they are this big!
I would agree about the tubes though, if one becomes dominant which it most likely will then it could easily trap the less dominant robo in those tubes & if fights break out which is always a possibility it would be very difficult to get to them before serious injury occurred. They may live happily together & not fall out, not all pairs do, but it is always something to bear in mind & best to take care to give them a set up that won't encourage either to become territorial over parts of the cage or trap the other in a spot it can't easily escape from.

Can someone explain how the tubes make it possible for one ham to trap the other? Also what's wrong with reptile sand?

If one ham is more dominant it could prevent the other from getting around the cage easily or getting to food & water with that many tubes, if the more dominant one decides to attack the other it really would be difficult for the less dominant one to escape easily, other than that as I said before if they did fight getting to them & stopping it in time if they were in a tube would be difficult.
Ideally you want a set up where there is nothing & no area where one or the other may become territorial & try to prevent the other getting to something or using something or fighting over it.
It's generally accepted that you stand the best chance of success keeping a pair with a very simple basic layout, no levels , tubes or too many toys.
I keep trying to look back at your photos to try to explain what the problem is but they are so huge it makes it too difficult!
As for sand I think some reptile sand may be safe but some aren't so better safe than sorry & stick with chinchilla sand.

The Supreme science chinchilla sand is a great product you can get from Amazon in US. May be changing to Tiny Farms soon.

The sand actually cleans the oils out of the robos fur & makes them fluffy looking

I'd buy a Kaytee sand bath also from Amazon or Pet Smart in US so the sand lasts longer.

I mean 2 sand baths for 2 robos I see you live in US, so I'd look into getting the chinchilla sand & the Kaytee baths from Amazon if it's not too pricey these days?
Also, I noticed your mini Silent Spinner wheels. When they get bigger a 6.5 in wheel would be needed. It looks like a mini wheel anyway either 4 or 4.5 in? Your robos are cute!

Pet Smart is talking of discontinued selling of the product, even for reptiles because of quality. I don't think the reptile sand can hurt them as long as they aren't eating it. If you have Chinchilla sand already why not just remove the reptile sand?

Reptile sand can cause impaction(aka blockages)in reptiles and small animals as well as other pets.It also tends to contain calcium and is often quite dusty and can also cause respiratory problems with reptiles, small animals, etc. It's a lot safer to use children's play sand or Chinchilla sand and it's also a lot cheaper to just use play sand since it can cost so little in the US and probably just as little in the UK.
