It's not dusty at all. The chinchilla sand is way dustier.

Can you post a photo of the chinchilla sand you're using? Just that it sounds like it might be dust instead of sand.

I'm thinking the chinchilla sand is probably dust too.Either way,you can get a huge bag of play sand at Home Depot for less than 5 dollars in the US and it's a massive 50 pound bag which is a lot safer and 50 pounds is 22679.6 grams by the way.If that's not enough to switch you over, consider that you could be spending more for less than 1/10th of the amount of bathing sand!

The children's play sand is cheaper but I think the chinchilla sand is made specifically to remove oils from fur. There isn't anything added to children's play sand to make a greasy robo fluffy, so it's worth a little extra money.

Some others have said it does it anyways,so that's not exactly a reason to only use chinchilla sand.If it is in fact dust,it's unsafe anyways and shouldn't be used.

I don't use the dust anymore, just the sand & I bought it only to make them fluffy Plus, there's something about the chinchilla sand that makes Chloe think it's a potty. And a perfect potty as the clumps dry out & turn back into sand again & it never smells like urine.

As long as I have robos & Chloe using it for a toilet makes the price worth it. If the other 3 like it, then that's an added bonus

Seriously though, fluffiness is what's important

If it's safe and keeps them fluffy it's great, but definitely chinchilla sand or play sand(for children) I'm going to be using play sand myself and others probably have experience on if it does clean up oils and keep them fluffy though, which will help.

That's quite a nice creative set-up! I won't comment on the tubes & levels concerning pairs right now as it seems you have your mind made up. If this was for a single dwarf nobody would be saying anything negative. It's just that pairs can fight to the death over territory issues. You should always have another set-up ready for use if a fight breaks out in the middle of night for example. But if you turn down advice given about this set-up & how it might be dangerous to pairs, then that's up to you. I wouldn't chance it & I don't recommend this set up for a pair of robos but I wish you & your little ones success. Maybe they will be an exception, hopefully?

Honestly if it was for just one robo the setup would be awesome, and I can't deny that!Just with pairs, things are very different.Hopefully nothing bad happens, but there is no guarantee that nothing bad won't happen
