Default Would it be detrimental for a hamster to have two cages?

I move out of my student accomodation for a month back to my parents in the summer and i have cages back at theirs as well. As the cages dont collapse down they are really difficult to fit in the car which would be fine if i wasnt moving back just a mere month later. Do you think it will do them any harm to have a cage at my parents and a cage at uni?

They're not the same sadly but I would bring all the toys and stuff with me. I guess i'm gonna have to somehow transport massive cages back with me somehow. xD fun. I wish they collapsed like dog crates do. Would make it so much easier xD I would stay in my accomodation over the summer but i'd have to pay rent for that time and nah xD

Can you make the layout similar? It might work if you get a plastic tub and dump a load of the substrate and their toys & houses in there to transport home and put in the cage at the the other end so when you get to your parents everything is in the same place and smells the same.

yeah I was thinking of doing that anyway if it wasnt too stressful. I just did a cage change with one of my hams and put a load of substrate in from their old cage in there so it still smelled like them. I can put all of the other toys in the cages back home. I have carry cages for transport which they were given to me in so thats fine. Ugh I wish i was just staying in my flat over august.

My Pizca has two cages, because I live half year in my house and half year with my parents. The layout is very similar, she has the same house, same wheel, etc., and I think it is ok, she has no problem with the change

yeah I wouldnt be able to make the layouts excactly the same but i would be able to include all of their toys and stuff. I still the cages should be able fold up like dog crates. Then they could keep their cage all year round Though i would be awful of folding it and putting it back together xD
