1/2 bar spacing okay for baby syrian?
Considering getting a new cage with 1/2 inch bar spacing for a new syrian. Is that spacing okay for preventing a baby from escaping?

That would be 1.27cm. Not sure. All my cages have been 1cm at the widest. Half and inch does sound a bit risky. Just had a look on my tape measure and it really doesnt seem much more than 1cm so should be ok.

I think in the US half inch is seen as ok for Syrians And some that say half inch are actually 1cm. It's just they quote everything in inches in the US

Inches are easier when you're brought up on inches and not cm.I think cm are good though for more precise measuring, but still it is easier to just measure in inches sometimes.

Pretty much, I usually try to talk in terms of both because metric can be dead useful for somethings.

Re: 1/2 bar spacing okay for baby syrian?
I get totally confused lol. I think in feet and inches and in centimetres, depending what it is I'm thinking about. The same with fluid ounces and mls. I can only think in fluid ounces for cooking but when I was nursing, we had to measure urine and saline in mls so I can eyeball a litre of liquid ha ha.
So for measuring room sizes I can think in feet and inches only, not metres. But for hamster cages I have to convert the inches into centimetres so I know how big it is
