Default Mugs

Hello,

I have just this evening put this ceramic mug into my Syrian hamster's bedroom. I just wondered if people knew if this was safe or not. It's not chipped or anything, but just thought it was a nice addition! I'd love to know what people think, even if it's just "take it out!" Thanks

Other people may know more, but I think it's ok? I think other people have used them as somewhere for hammy's to hide in!

I think is ok as I've seen other people use mugs and other ceramic items in their hamster cages.

Also as you mentioned there is no chips in the mug so it should be safe as there wouldn't be any sharp edges. Just ensure that there is enough room inside so your hamster can't become stuck.

Good point. I use ceramic bowls. Which I have recently discovered he can move himself LOL

Thanks everyone. It's quite a big mug (actually bigger on the inside... ) so no danger of her getting stuck. She seems a bit curious around it, but has already filled it with bits of bedding and wood flakes.

My boy loves his tea cup, it's one of those large over sized ones. I have it filled with a small later of bedding and a bunch of tissue paper. He loves the crunchy noises.

It will be cooler in the summer. Some people even put the mug in the fridge to make it cooler.

I like your choice of mug!

I put one on my hammy's cage last year in case she wanted to use it to cool down in summer, but she preferred using it as an extra storage space I think!

Thanks! She does seem to like it, and just sits quietly in there sometimes, but not for long!
