I hadn't thought of that - that it might deter chewing - I was thinking more of it sealing the wood a bit if it was plywood. Jenibelle made a great platform/level in her cage - I think it was just a piece of wood and some dowels for legs - or something like that - if you wanted a taller platform.

Hmm it isn't going to deter chewing apparently!I tried to have some form of a theory,but overall just with being careful and making sure nothing is too sharp or bad for chewing it should be fine.

DIY platforms are a great idea as well,and they're relatively simple and affordable too

I feel quite lucky Charlie isn't a chewer I guess some chewers will chew anything, but as you say it's just keeping an eye on things and common sense. In fact I wish Charlie would chew some wood. The only wood he will chew is if it has food attached to it like those chew sticks - so I get those Rosewood naturals ones.

There are a few examples of Knuff creations here!

This one has a picture of knuff shelves and also another Ikea hack for a house - although I wouldn't use the fabric mentioned personally.
