Downgrading cages
My friend is downgrading one of her older Syrian hamsters to a Savic Cammy Hamster Cage due to him being very lazy, sleeping most of the time and only coming out for a drink and some food. She was wondering what people thought of this cage as a whole and her only concern is the big front door which pops out very easily which I've advised her to put some padlocks on to prevent any escapes. Please refrain from talking about cage sizes and similar topics.

Re: Downgrading cages
Yes I would do the same thing and tell your friend to reinforce the can win any way possible, a good way to test if the door will pop open or not is by quite firmly pulling on the middle bars of the door with your index finger. If it doesn't come open then you should be alright, but if you are still concerned then reinforce it anyway just to be safe. However if it does pop open its not a very strong mechanism and will need some sort of reinforcement. Better safe than sorry
