Default Nobby Hamster Houses 30x5 x 19.5 x 16.5cm

Hi I was wondering about the Nobby Hamster House for my Syrian Bailey. I really didn't want to disturb his sleeping quarters but I'm afraid needs must. At the moment he sleeps in a lovely wood hut which was bought from Hop Nibble and Squeek but my little Bailey has the terrible habit of as well as sleeping in the hut but to use it as his toilet as well, which is not ideal. I have tried to train him to use his sand, but to no avail. Has anyone used the above hut and what are your opinions on them, I'm thinking of ordering one from Amazon.

Many Thanks

This house is fine as long as he is a smallish syrian can be a cramped house for a large syrian. I think you are right to change the house unless varnished it can get a bit manky.
Try a plastic house and see how it goes, you can always go back after.
Alternatively try moving the house and putting a litter tray where your hammy is currently weeing as they may continue to go there once the house is moved

Good luck x

Thanks you, he isn't too big a Syrian and someone did say that the hut at that size could house a Guinea Pig although I find that hard to believe. Bailey is so laid back and can be quite lazy I think if I moved the house and place the sandbath where the hut is now I dont think it would make any difference, and the wood hut is starting to detoriate.

Thank you for your response. The plastic huts are not expensive so it will be worth a try.

Do you have a picture of it? The size sounds good - it's about the same size as the Guinea Pig house that Charlie had before his current house. There are some nice houses at Rodipet as well.

If it's this one I wouldn't really think it was great as a main house because of having a solid floor and being plastic as well.

Nobby Hamster House, 30.5 x 19.5 x 16.5 cm: Amazon.co.uk: Pet Supplies

These Ferplast ones are good - they slot together like a jigsaw so no nails or glue - have a flat roof that doubles up as a platform, the roof lifts off so you can spot clean inside without having to take the house out, and you can paint it any colour you want With plastikote so it's waterproof.

Ferplast Guinea Pig House Wooden Small Pet Nesting Box: Amazon.co.uk: Pet Supplies

I have the bigger one for Charlie, with his potty tray inside it - it's far too small for a rabbit but a good size for a hamster and a potty tray.

Ferplast 84646099 Wooden House for Rabbits SIN 4646 Total Size Approx. 34.5 x 24 x 16.5 cm: Amazon.co.uk: Pet Supplies

Hi, I spotted the house on Amazon but I could not guarantee what colour would arrive and my preference would have been either the blue or green, knowing my luck the pink would have arrived, I have noticed another plastic house which is slightly bigger on EBay and a website called Little Pet Warehouse, I think Bailey will love it and it will be more hygienic. So I have opted for this one, Little Friends Plastic Rat Chinchilla House Bed which was £8.99 including a click and collect. I will try and get a picture for you.

This will be Baileys new house.

Plastic house suitable for rats, chinchillas and similar sized small animals. Size approximately 31 x 20.5 x 16cm

I prefer wooden houses as they dont get sweary like plastic can.

All my syrians have rabbit sized houses. Too small for rabbits but great for hamsters.

I prefer wooden huts but unfortunately Baileys hygiene leaves very much to be desired, I've tried to train him he is a stubborn little thing and still insists on using his hut for, eating, sleeping and you guessed it his toilet. The wood on the hut is wearing out as well as that I'm bothered about it smelling.
