Re: Too much free space, need toy ideas
German hamster care forums and such can be a huge help as well!

Amytiville would you consider those cages in this thread big enough?

It's hard to say.Sometimes UK minimum cages work, sometimes they don't.I'm always a bigger fan of the German sized cages though!

Thank you! I will probably buy that trixie platform too. Coco loves to dig and climb and she loves to climb up over her box to the sand bath. She also now loves to dig in the box. I woke up last night (not because of her) and I heard her digging lots of substrate in the box, also under the box. I saw substrates flying in the air.
Also when I make her and my dwarf a diy lid I will probably buy some toys to hang from the roof.

Re: Too much free space, need toy ideas
I have one of the Trixie platforms - I haven't actually used it yet - I was seeing how Charlie went with his new cage set up but there is an 'airy' bit in the middle and I think he doesn't like being under that bit so might put it in the middle of the cage. I like it - the legs screw in and it's quite tall so can be 'sunk' under the substrate to be stable and still a reasonable height. I put mine in the freezer for a couple of days first though, in a plastic bag - I'm always worried about natural wood having woodworm or something (having had one item with woodworm holes in!)
