It finally came but ...
So my order that didn't turn up last week finally turns up today. I have just opened it, but wanted to ask if you guys can take a look at these pics of the cork tunnel, and tell me if it looks ok?? It looks very different to the online pic ...
Photo 1 - As you can see, it has green bits on. I had originally thought it was meant to look like a moss effect, but now I'm not sure and it doesn't say anything on it! - Also, the green peels off, but unsure yet as to whether it's just the tunnel itself ...
Photo 2 - This is part of the inside. At first I had thought it was supposed to look like dirt. Then it started coming off, so now I am not sure??
Photo 3 - This is inside but the other end from the photo before, but may be a little better to see (and please excuse my finger! - Sadly that finger now has a Hello Kitty plaster on, thanks to the wardrobe door!)
Photo 4 - This is supposed to show the green again, but I'm not sure how well you can see it ...
Photo 5 - This is the whole of the front of the log ... Please excuse the horrible bed cover which was given to use by some great grandmother or someone I think!
Everything else was fine - though now I have 3 wheels in total which is a little annoying!

Lol. Sorry to hear about the wounded finger. Hello kitty plaster sounds great.
The tunnel does look a bit manky must say but i have never had one. Hopefully someone experienced in cork tunnels will be along soon.

Serendipity has a cork tunnel I think. Possibly see if her photo shows it looking like yours. She will probably see this and post a useful reply if she has a cork tunnel.

Re: It finally came but ...
I didn't think cork normally came complete with lichen growing on them which is what the green is, not sure about the brown bits inside, could possibly be dead lichen or moss or mud even or just dried up bits peeling off, you can see the same green lichen in the photo at the link though.
Serendipity got hers from Rodipet & I've had one too which looked a lot cleaner than that tbh.
Maybe wait for opinions from anyone else who has one but I wouldn't put that in the cage, anything like that I always put in the freezer for about a week anyway which should kill off any little critters living in the cracks!

Mine looked a bit like that too. Although it was quite clean inside - some of them are really dirty! If you put it in the freezer for a couple of days, inside a plastic bag, it will kill anything that might be 'live'. Then when it's defrosted you can give it a good rinse under a tap inside an out and let it dry out fully before putting it in the cage. Cork is basically bark off a tree an in it's natural state. Mine also had a couple of bits that look like lichen but I reckon it's dead now! Charlie didn't try to eat it off or anything. When you're rinsing it you could try going over those bit on the outside with a nail brush or similar and see if it come off but I wouldn't brush too hard or it'll start disintigrating. I didn't bother and just put it in the freezer.

I put mine in a plastic carrier bag before putting it in the freezer so it didn't get too wet (and drop bits all over the food lol).

Re: It finally came but ...
Ha ha someone just opened the freezer and found the log. Seems I didn't do a good enough job of hiding it! Have now hidden it under the bag of chips as no one will look there!
