Default zooplus steps

so got my zoo plus parcel yesterday before i went to work, waited all day for it and then had to wait patiently till today to open it!

anyways, ordered the small animal steps - Small Pet Steps: Free P&P on orders £29+ at zooplus!

without measuring my tank first. just wondered who else has these steps and how they use them? as they're a lot larger than i was expecting!

I don't have them but hey could be used to reach a shelf, Sputnik that is on the roof or a hanging toy.

They look neat. I like them. But looking at the customer photos they are pretty big. Nice to find proper sized things though. Rather than the things like that usually sold for hamsters that my wee robo would struggle to fit on let alone anything bigger

had originally planned to fit the house i bought for her underneath but may have to saw one of the ends of the steps to make it fit :/ with it being a fish tank it currently has no shelves or a roof.....except for glass panels but I've not used them yet.

they are massive! think because hamster stuff is normally too small i didn't believe the measurements i was given by zoo plus?

just trying to configure how they're going to fit. suppose it'll teach me for not knowing my measurements first! and if anyone is interested ill post a picture once I've squeezed them in!

Pictures may be good before you cut it. Then people can offer ideas on position etc.

I've seen them used at one end of a cage near a corner so the top step actually makes a a shelf. I wouldn't cut it, it might not be very strong or stable afterwards. Maybe have it at the opposite end of the the tank to a house. Also if you put them on the very base of the tank, the substrate will kind of lessen the height and the bottom step will be lower, level or even below the substrate.

If you were wanting a step up to a house roof, I find a bendy bridge tunnel is good for that. I have one over the entrance of Charlie's house, which does 2 or 3 things - it makes his house dark inside with a tunnel entrance and also provides a bridge he can climb up to the house roof.

Hello Mortiana
We bought these a few weeks ago for Nibbles our Syrian. We use them in the run for when she plays out. She was a bit unsure at first but now she loves them! We always sit in the run with her and sometimes put them up again our leg so that when she's on them she can come and walk on us.

Check out the photos for the steps on the Zooplus page - there are quite a few ideas in hammy cages. I can see there is one where they've shortened the longest leg to fit on top of a house - is that what you mean? I think they look good on their own against one end.

The middle shelf/step is literally about 5mm too long to fit along the width of the tank so was planning to just take a tiny bit off the end to make it fit. The height is fine, only goes about halfway up the side of the tank. Have looked at the pics on zoo plus for ideas, just trying to make it all fit. Didn't get chance to play around with it last night so going to spend a bit of time later trying to fit it in without making it too crowded - want her feet to still touch the floor! Lol.
