Default Re: New cage

Howdy, I am new to the forum after very recently purchasing my Syrian hamster, Beau.
I am too having a cage dilemma. The cage I initially bought for Beau is tiny, and I am feeling awful so intend to buy her a new, larger cage ASAP.
I am currently debating between the Alexander (£70) and the Barney (£50). There is a considerable price difference, particularly given that I'm working on a student budget!
What I really want to know, basically, is whether the Alexander is worth the extra £20? Or would the Barney be sufficient? I don't really want to have to purchase a new cage in the future, so its important that the cage I choose is right.
Also, if I do choose the Barney, does anyone here know where I can purchase an extra platform?
Please let me know if you have any advice!!
Thanks!

Both cages are really nice and would make perfect homes for your Beau! They are both almost identical measurement wise apart from the alexander having more heigh allowing for the large platform so if you think Beau would benefit from having a large upper level and it's worth the extra £20 then go for the alexander!

Both are perfectly sufficient and would give Beau a wonderful permanent large home If your on a budget then maybe the Barney would be the winning choice. As for the platforms im unsure where you'd be able to get them so hopefully another member will be able to help you on that one

* Welcome to the forum btw!

I also just had a look on Google and in terms of setting up the cages and toys the Barney seems more flexible in where you can place things. The Alexanders platform means you might be limited to where you place your wheel, so it's something to consider. Maybe it would be best to get the Barney then if anything spend the £20 on decking out the cage with lots of toys and accessories to make it interesting?
