Oh... eye poking doesn't sound good! I found a product on Zooplus called Nibble Grass (sorry still don't know how to link lol) and I was wondering if I put in the cage for a few hours then removed it would that work? I'll happily accept that I can't have plants if that, also is unsuitable.

I've had the nibble grass - you grow it from seed I think don't you. I didn't put the whole pot in the cage though, just snipped chunks off when it was grown and put them in. It's easy to grow - even I managed it.

Yes, I saw in reviews it is just seeds. I think I'll snip some too. Thanks, I'll stick to millet in sand lol.

I think the hamster would just chew all the plants and it then wouldn't look nice anymore and the hamster may get sick.

Now I'm embarrassed Serendipity . I got the grass too but I've never managed to grow anything even with the instructions I got from folks on the forum

Lol Ruby. Maybe you had a dud pack. I am terrible with growing things and usually kill them pretty quick either by under or overwatering. These I just stuck on the window ledge and watered every couple of days and amazingly they grew. It just looks like grass when grown. Charlie seemed to like it though, but it doesn't last that long once grown. I'd snip a chunk off and put it in his food bowl and it was always eaten.
