Settled in for a good viewing of Charlie's cage! I don't like my classic water bottle forcing the bars apart so I think I try and get it inside though I only have the white wire to secure it to the bars. It may not work.

Thank you. Shame the video isn't better quality. I think I was a bit tired when I made that one!

I like the clips on the drinky bottles so the spout doesn't go through the bars, but the clip still pushes the bars apart! It's ok with a few cable ties on though. And only really an issue if you have resident mice maybe! Which we did last year for a while.

Nice video Serendipity! Seems like Charlie is nicely settled I'm all curious now to see what you do about the gap next to his house!

My brain doesn't seem to want to think about anything this week! What I'd like to do is get him a bigger house lol! One of the rodipet labyrinth houses - they're a bit wider. It seemed like a better investment putting money towards that, than spending money on another shelf. But I think it's a bit soon to change Charlie's house as he's only been in the cage a couple of weeks. His current house is more hoard than nest now lol! Hoards everywhere. And he's just started turning his potty into a hoard area again now too. Just a little hoard, nothing like the giant ones all round his nest and in his doorway and under his nest.

The Rodipet labyrinth house (the Syrian sized one) has 3 little hoarding rooms, a nest room which is about the same size as his current nest, a potty room and another room Not sure how big the larger rooms are though. Maybe a shelf would be better. He likes his house.

Have you looked at the Getzoo labyrinth houses Serendipity?
They're mostly a good size but tend to have less rooms inside so the rooms are a bit bigger, most of the Rodipet ones have quite a few rooms in which tends to make them a bit on the small side.
I was going to get a new Rodipet one but got tired of waiting for the one I liked to come back into stock so went for a Getzoo one & once it arrived I was glad I did.
The height is about the same, not very high but the idea is that they burrow down in the substrate underneath anyway.

This is the one I have but the Zany is even bigger, maybe more syrian size, you really don't need the little ramp so you can get rid of the small space behind it & just have three decent size spaces.

You read my mind Cypher! The Rodipet one I liked hasn't been in stock for a while either (the biggest one) - just the version with the terracotta bowl on top. Which is nice, and could be useful for getting the potty in and out without having to remove the whole roof (there' quite a big hole under the terracotta dish), but would restrict what is currently on his house roof so would mean more slight layout changes (which would be a bit much right now). I really like the Getzoo one you have and think the layout for that size is better than the layout on the larger Zany one. On the larger one there is no direct entrance from the entrance passage - the ham has to go all the way round to the ladder passage to get in the main compartment. Also the hoarding bit under the ladder has a much narrower top to it than it does on the small version. I like the idea about not bothering with the ramp. I think the previous Rodipet labyrinth house would have been better, as you could leave the centre section out of that one. I'm not going to rush into changing the house just now, as whichever one I got would need stilts on it to keep it at the height his current one is - although have sourced the petsafe wood glue that the germans use to attach the stilts! I really like the layout of your Getzoo house - just wish the bigger one had the same layout! I actually think the separate rooms/hoarding places would be better for Charlie as his nest and hoard and potty all get a bit intermingled in his current large open space - providing the nesting room is big enough. I reckon the larger compartments must be about 16cm by 13cm. His current nest (the actual nesting bit not including the hoards is slightly bigger than that but not by much.
