I think I'll stick with his current house for now - it's so tall he can sit up in it and get into his potty easily. He's so big lol. I actually like the labyrinth house that Shannon has, which is taller, but can't seem to find those on Etsy any more. Do you know if she is still making them Shannon? Even if you raise the lower ones above the substrate it would need to be lower than the 'walls' inside for Charlie to be able to be on two paws instead of four and if there's a gap under the inside walls it seems a bit pointless. I'm sure he'd like one though, even if it was more like tunnels than houses. Something like the ceramic ones with the adjoining tube might be better but not sure where you'd put a potty in those. How do you manage the potty area with whisper's ceramic thingies?

That's not Whisper's house! It's a kind of hypothetical layout in the Getzoo house, you know me, empty cage = have to play lol!
I was looking for an alternative to the Leif cabin that Flynt had as I didn't like the difficult to access bit under the ramp or the bark top with that one.
Now I just need someone to live in it... not ready just yet though.

I meant Whisper's ceramic house thingy! The Wohnfelsen (or whatever it's called lol) - just wondered where you put the potty. The Getzoo one you have looks really good though.

I really like the idea of labyrinth houses but I think I'm less keen on them than I was in the beginning. I do think (for a Syrian at least) that you need a really massive labyrinth house for it to be worthwhile. I got the Trixie Cabin Leif Labyrinth house but I really had to modify it before Spike was happy with it. I removed the floor as soon as I got it and he was okay with the house at first but as he got bigger and older he eventually stopped using it until I removed some of the internal walls to make the chambers bigger - it was just too small. At the moment the inside looks like this:

On the right he had his litter tray but that's been taken out as he is now using the ground floor entrance and has blocked off everything else. Basically it's now just a 2 room house. At the moment I'm contemplating removing the ramp to free up that 3rd chamber but I'm not certain he'd even use it.

So while I really like the idea of labyrinth houses I'm hesitant about ever getting one that has too many rooms unless it's a really massive house - the kind of massive that's just not practical when you have a 100cm cage. All that being said I do like the Getzoo one Cypher linked, It seems nice and versitile as you can remove the middle wall if you need to and give him loads of space. But I do wonder if it may be better just to buy a large single chamber house and DIY a dividing wall?

I think you're probably right Ruby, the labyrinth houses do seem to be better in theory than practise! It's hard enough getting it right for a dwarf let alone a syrian!
Most things seem to need at least a bit of DIY to get right.

That's interesting as Charlie's current house is about the same size as the Leif house (although taller) but just one big space inside. I do think putting a partition in it could be a good idea though, as otherwise there's not much of a division between his house and his potty. I think you're right that it would need to be very big to work effectively and the Rodipet and Getzoo Syrian ones are pretty big for a 100cm cage. Sounds like the Getzoo one would work better but I'd still rather they were taller.

The main issue with his current house is only having the one door at one end, which means he has to trample down part of his nest to get in and out of the door, so the good thing about the lab houses is having a separate entranceway separated from the nest, and two doors. I kept looking at the Rodipet one and wanting to knock panels out though lol. A diy one would probably be best. Shannon's looked good! It was taller and less/bigger compartments.

Spike does look adorable in there though! And I bet his nesting area is nice and dark with no door near his nest.

A diy house could be a good idea. Divided into three rooms. Central entrance hole Then turn left for nest, turn right for potty and straight ahead for hoard.

Could me made what ever size it is required.
