Default Are barred cages suitable for dwarf hamsters?

I'm looking to get another hamster. I'd much rather adopt than shop but there are a very limited number of hamsters available for adoption in my area. This means that I may not have much choice when it comes to which species to get.

The only problem with this is that my cage has bars. I'm not sure if it's suitable for a dwarf hamster. The bar spacing is 7mm apart so it may be fine, but I'm not sure.

7mm is fine for a Chinese or Russian dwarf, I think a robo might be better in a tank. Good luck with the adoption!

Totally fine for RCD's, WW's, and Chinese. It might be okay for a Robo but it depends on the size of the robo.

I've kept all my dwarf hams in barred cages with no problem, 7mm is just fine, even a max of 1cm is ok.
You do need to be a little careful with your cage set up as they can be prone to a bit of bar climbing & have no idea how to get down again when they do so you need to make sure they can't fall on anything hard or sharp.
I much prefer barred cages tbh, I think they make interaction, access & taming a lot easier.

I've used cages with 7mm bar spacing for robos before, I'd think any hamster you adopt should be fine with it
