Apologies if i've misinterpreted and you already know this, but Syrian hamsters are solitary. They must all be housed one hamster to a cage.

Out of those cages, the best two are the Jill or the Deluxe my first critter pet home (assuming its not too high). None of them are great though. The Jack 62 cage is a reasonable choice from Amazon.

I know Syrian hamsters are solitary but some of mine like to be 2 or 3 and never fight..

I wouldn't use any of these cages for a syrian as they are all too small really. As for keeping them together it is not a natural think for a syrian hamster which is solitary by nature. One day one may just snap and you will have a blood bath. Once they start fighting they will fight to kill.

Please don't keep your hamsters together.
They may enjoy being together but like Souffle said, it's a natural instinct for them to fight till death as they are solitary animals.
As for the cages I wouldn't suggest permantently housing any of them in them as they dont seem to be big enough.
Why not pick up a Cambridge? They're a perfect size for a syrian.
You may be able to find larger cages on eBay for a much cheaper price, just shop around for a bit.

Hiya,

i now that this has already been said, but i just wanted to repeat - 'DO NOT KEEP SYRIAN HAMSTERS TOGETHER'!!

Your profile says that you are 'Highly Knowledgeable' with ragards to hamsters, and it also says that you breed hamsters too - so you must have had experience with syrian litters, and must therefore know that once the babies hit 6 or 7 weeks old they will not tolerate each other in the same cage and will usually end up harming each other and causing very serious wounds!! Just imagine what adult syrians could do to each other!! They will end up killing each other if they are kept together!

I have a litter of babies at the moment who are already starting to hurt each other and making each other squeal - and they are only 5 weeks old!! They will be monitored very carefully over the next few days, but will probably need splitting within the next week.

Another thing you might have experienced is when you try to mate and a female - if the female is not receptive to the male she will turn on him and they will fight very viciously!! They can cause terrible wounds to each other in just a few seconds of being together!!

Surely these things show you just how solitary syrian hamsters are?

How old are the syrians you have together? How many are there in the group? are they males or females? or both?

Please do not keep them together anymore - each syrian needs it's own cage!
