Mine has never been loose. Do have it attached to the bars with the two plates, bolt and wingnut? Or is it on the stand (sorry I couldn't work that bit out). I found it better not to have the wing nut too tight, but obviously it needs to be tight enough. I tightened it quite tight, then slightly loosened it until the wheel spun free-er (too tight and it restricted the spin). As Oddly says, if the wheel itself isn't quite put together firmly it can look like it's wobbly (ie have a bit of a scissors action). I had that at first because I didn't have the front and back pieces pressed firmly enough onto the running track. If they are pressed on firmly enough the joining strip for the running track should fit exactly - no gaps either side.

If you have the cage mounting plates, put the bolt through the wheel, then put one plate on the back then the bolt through the bars, then the other plate on the bolt (outside of the bars) then the wing nut.

Good to hear it works well on a bin cage! I reckon it would work well in a detolf as well! On the stand it would be too tall for a detolf, but if you drill a hole through the wood end panel of the detolf for the bolt, it could be cage mounted I reckon - and the wheel itself is 30cm diameter so would fit in the detolf heightwise (although it would be low at the bottom but most 11 or 12" wheels are in the detolf). If the bolt is long enough.

Both of mine are on stands & I haven't had any problems with the washer coming loose at all, I do mine up quite tight.

Ff I'd check to make sure it's assembled right? Hollow tub part should be on to the left of stand with bolt going thru it & wing nut on right side of stand.

Glad it's sorted I had the same problem first time I put it together. Once you've done it a couple of times it's a lot easier.

I know ! Just wish they were a bit cheaper. It's the best wheel I've had though (until it breaks of course lol - I hope not!)

Old thread but both the silent runners are going well and are soooo quiet. Going to get another one for my new hamster, Robin. Hope he likes it!
