What Do You Guys Use for your Hammy Potties?
Here is another question that I've been wondering for a little while. Normally, I use this Kaytee Vege-T-Bowl for a potty, but my sister was thinking of getting a hamster, and we can only buy this from Amazon. While I might still buy this bowl, I was wondering what everyone else uses for their Syrian hamster's potty bowl. I would like something deep and big enough for the pee to stay in it, but at the same time I would like it to be easy to clean!
Thanks for your advice and suggestions!

I have a corner hamster potty but Harvey prefers the sand bath which was a washed out empty margarine tub! Just about the right size, nice and deep for scratching, and easy to clean. Bury it in the substrate or use popsicle sticks glued to the side to hide it if you don't want it on show.

Syrians tend to prefer a corner to aim at, so something square or rectangular might be better. =)
You could try using a small food storage container/tupperware box ( like the larger yellow or blue one shown here). My Syrian has one of those in his main cage, while his 'en-suite' has a small ceramic baking tray, as shown in this rather dark and blurry image (my three dwarfs also have small ceramic baking trays, although the hybrids have large oval ones while my Robo has a very small rectangular one - also note that the cage he's in in that pic is a Savic Spelos, which acts as his house; it's on top and connected to a Hamster Heaven Metro. Just in case anyone thinks the Spelos is ALL he has =P).

I just put a glass mason jar in Bernie's pee corner, I'm hoping he takes to using it!

Re: What Do You Guys Use for your Hammy Potties?
when i first got my hammy i fond this little potted plant vase to put in and at first milo (my hammy) used it to nest but now its become his little potty area and thats the only place he will go to pee (also he moved out of there and now sleeps in another part of the cage) and it makes it very easy to clean out and take care of.

Re: What Do You Guys Use for your Hammy Potties?
Nibble has one of those small corner litter trays, Glowy has had a hamster toilet and a variety of ceramic dishes, and has settled on a particular dish big enough for him to pee in the back and have a roll in the front of. They both have large corner litter trays as sandbaths, Glowy never pees in his but nibble does sometimes.
