Safe paints?

I've seen a lot of really adorable houses and food bowls all over the internet which gives me ideas of making my own out of clay. But to do that I would like to know what kind of safe paints i could use to seal the clay.
I'd appreciate any information =)




I'd also appreciate seeing any of the adorable things you've found for little hamsters!

Paint using fruits/vegetables

I've also seen videos using crayola washable kid safe paint (although this was sealed in with non-toxic glue or plasti-kote)

Thank you that is in fact very helpful, I just may need to give the veggie thing a try. and if I decide I'm to lazy (=p) I'll will be looking into those Crayola safe paints.

Fruit & veg paints won't seal anything, if you want to make something water proof then I would stick to the water based plastikote that most people use for hams.
