Unhappy Bar chewing?!

I bought my hamster a new cage today, it's a wooden hutch advertised for Guinea pigs, at first she was running around all giddy, and now she's climbing and chewing the bars? Will this pass once she's calmed down, don't want her hurting herself.

I think I may just treat her like a new hamster for tonight, give her 24 hours, I have only had her a couple weeks and the new environment again must of scared her, I'm out
tonight for NYE so I'll give her the room alone to get use to it.

Was she in a tank-style cage before charcobain? Wire or bars always attract their attention but whether she will stop chewing the bars (looks like a galvanised wire?) I would worry that she may break her teeth, so if she doesn`t stop, the simple solution would be take a flat piece of Perspex and place it across the inside attaching it to the wire with small cable ties. Have the Perspex high enough that she can`t see or reach above it, but have clear Perspex to allow the light to still get in. x

She was in a bin cage, if she's still doing it when I'm home from work, I'll go out and get some and attach it before I go out tonight, thank you!

That`s good, She`s maybe just been excited by the move! But you can always use the Perspex plan if she won`t leave the mesh along. It would be safer for her in the long run. How is she faring in the hutch? you think it`s an improvement from the Bin cage? x

Definetly, my bin cage was big enough for my previous hamster but this little lady is way bigger than him, she enjoys is a lot more, way more space for her to run around and burrow!

Here is a pic of my late hamster, Harvest (rip sweetie) in her hutch at the mesh. She soon dedided that the wood between the mesh squares was more fun but never managed to chew out.
